Greetings! This is post from our NPN Network group…Phew…Gail

From The Marijuana Report:  The article in Politico gives some interesting background relative to not knowing what 1/3 of the chemicals used in or become a by product when CBD is converted to Delta-8 – yikes.

High anxiety over federal weed loophole
A new fad is replacing the older fad of CBD, and that is Delta-8 THC. Delta-8 THC products are being marketed as a legal way for people to get stoned.

Like its cousin Delta-9 THC, Delta-8 THC is psychoactive. The legal claim derives from the fact that Delta-8 THC is not extracted from the marijuana plant but rather is made from the CBD in hemp which is legal.

However, the chemicals used to turn CBD into Delta-8 THC are unregulated and untested. Some hemp industry czars are concerned that we are on the cusp of another EVALI episode, while some marijuana czars worry about competition from an unregulated product that makes people as high as the regulated one they are producing and selling.

This week, Senator Rand Paul introduced a bill to triple the allowable amount of Delta-9 THC that can be present in hemp, from three-tenths of one percent to one percent THC. Wonder what that might do to add to the confusion? So do we.
