Understanding Tobacco 21 at the Federal and State level:
How do these policies impact Virginia POST data interpretation?
April 29th, 2019 at 10 AM
Webinar Description: In July 2019, the Virginia General Assembly passed legislation to increase the minimum age to purchase tobacco, nicotine vapor and alternative nicotine products from 18 to 21. A few months later, on December 20, 2019, the President signed legislation to amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, raising the federal minimum age of sale of tobacco products to age 21. So what does this Federal Tobacco 21 policy mean for the state of Virginia? In this webinar, we’ll take a deep dive into both the state and federal policy, and examine the impact of the federal policy on Virginia at the statewide and local level. We’ll also look specifically at how data from Counter Tools’ Point of Sale Toolkit (POST) can be interpreted in relation to these new policies.
