Good afternoon. The Office of Behavioral Health Wellness wants to invite you to consider partnering with your local schools in an opportunity to help them become more trauma informed. There is an outstanding Creating Trauma Sensitive Schools Conference coming up in Atlanta in February of 2020. Our friend Dr. Anda is one of the keynote speakers.

Here is a link to the conference:

Our office is offering $6,000 to each CSB to send 2 people to this conference. The two people must be teachers or administrators from a local school district that you have an active connection with. You may also send one person from your prevention team along with one teacher/administrator to make up the 2 people. But there has to be at least one teacher/administrator representing a local school.

The requirements post conference:

The participants must be willing to devote one hour every two months to a trauma sensitive schools learning community. There will be more details about that as we move forward. Participation will be flexible and local and accommodating.

If you are interested in sending two people, please forward their names, their positions, and how their participation in the conference will help your community become more trauma informed.

I need to have that information by Friday, November 15. Once received, we will respond to your submissions before Thanksgiving. Award notices and funds for those approved will arrive December 16. Once approved you’ll be able to register your people for the conference.
