NRVCS announces monthly REVIVE! trainings
NRVCS (New River Valley Community Services) has announced a new partnership with the New River Health District (Virginia Department of Health) to provide REVIVE! lay rescuer trainings on a monthly basis, beginning in February 2019. Trainings will rotate among the five jurisdictions served by the two agencies. Those localities include the counties of Floyd, Giles, Montgomery and Pulaski, as well as the City of Radford.

The trainings (including the free Narcan kits that will be distributed to participants) are being made possible through funding from the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBDHS) and the Office of Behavioral Health Wellness.

According to Mike Wade, Communications and Outreach Coordinator for NRVCS, the monthly trainings will be offered the third Friday of each month at 9:00 a.m. Training sites will vary by location. Dr. Noel Bissell, Director for the New River Health District, will be the prescribing physician at each of the planned REVIVE! trainings.

Wade points out that additional trainings can be scheduled as requested.
