I joined DBHDS this summer as the newest member of the Behavioral Health Wellness team. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting or corresponding with many of you, but want to officially introduce myself and provide my contact information.
My responsibilities as OPT-R Coordinator include working on the Curb the Crisis website and marketing campaign. There’s a lot of activity planned for CurbtheCrisis in the near future so I wanted to be sure you’re briefed—also, I’m interested in your comments and suggestions.
CurbtheCrisis.com replaced the VaAware website. It’s a joint project with Virginia Department of Health, the social marketing firm Reingold, and many others. In the near future, I’ll be recommending content for CurbtheCrisis channels. Much of this will be news, events and accomplishments from the field that you’ve identified by posting through this Portal or other means.
In addition to the CurbtheCrisis website and social media, you may also see/hear TV ads, radio ads, billboards, and plans for local event participation. As I receive information about these initiatives, I’ll pass the information along to you. When collaborating at the state level, a main message to partners is always: prevention work is achieved in communities at the local level. Thanks for all that you do! I’m very happy to act as a liaison and information link to, and with, you!
Please reach out to me with any questions related to OPT-R prevention strategies, comments regarding CurbtheCrisis, or anything else. (My position as OPT-R Coordinator is part-time but acknowledging and responding to your inquiries is my top priority.)
I look forward to connecting with you soon!
